Underbody Lighting

45HG52

Overdrive!
I thought that underbody lighting was illegal, as was those little LED washer lights. I only ask because one of those Chevrolet Tourers just passed me looking like Blackpool illuminations.

Has anyone a clue about this?

Yes all forward facing lights except indicators must be white and side ones amber some of the B M W lights which look blue and dazzle you on motorways are not good but as long as they show white on light meter during m.o.t. they pass still dont like them??

This is a laugh

Couple of years ago while working under the landy left the 12v inspection light on. Went for a test drive all the boy racers started flashing me and honking there horns. When got back and relaised what i had done, found it looked quite nice

You are allowed to have yellow lights also (fogs usually), think older renaults and citrons.

Basically the washer lights are ok if they are yellow/white but obviously not blue. But as they dont flash the law is somewhat murky, so the police don't usualy bother, they may however see the lights an then look at your bald tyres and do you for that.

Underbody lighting is also a big no no! You must not have any lights showing from the rear that are not red/orange (unless reversing).

So quick recap, only lights at the front are white/yellow/orange and at the back red/orange (unless reversing).

On a similar vein 'sort of ' I've just brought a 3 way cigarette lighter socket (you know what I mean) . with a blue LED and stuck it on the passenger side of the centre console in the disco. At night it lights up the all of the passenger footwell, and as the disco's got a blue interior, it looks well cool!! £5.99 from Hafrauds.

you can have the underbody lights but only can use them in shows, the police tend to pull people with the blue led lights for obviose reasons, but the blue lights are the most common ones that 'boy racer' style cars tend to use, most people canot turn them off anyway.

Does the same apply to HGV'S Driving down the M6 last week was like watching the Trams at Blackpool

Better than slamming into one in the dark/fog because you couldn't see him. :D Yes same rules apply but they are allowed double sided lights red to rear white to front and yellow lights down the side of the truck so you don't try driving through the middle of the trailer unit.

Yes but what about the outside/front of the cabs decorated like a christmas tree

Someone near my parents has a Discovery with green underbody lights, regularly see it driven around town at night with them on, everytime I see it I just think how sad what a waste of a land rover.

I've recently seen some of the boy racers with colour change side light bulbs, blue then green then yellow etc. I was suprised to see one driving toward me with red side lights (in the front)! Now that can't be legal.
