Unusual mot question

oRGie

I've got my mot coming up and I need to travel over from europe so was thinking of taking out the middle row of seats in my d2 as per camping set-up so I can have the bed setup etc :) question is, do the middle row seats have to be in place for the MOT ? I would just unbolt the seats from the floor, this doesnt involve doing anything to the belts. Thanks for any advice :)

Middle row seats dont have to be there for m.o.t but if they are then seat belts must work i once took the passenger seat out of a car so her dog could sit on the floor next to her? if the seat is not there its not a test item hope this helps

Only problem you will have is, we have to put the amount of seats on the Test Sheets.

I don't know as yet if it affects any Insurance claims or C and U regs. If you have 2 seats on MOT and 5 when you have an accident, they could use it as a get out clause and not pay out, especially if a rear seat passenger was hurt and they want to claim for their injuries.

Get sheet of 18mm ply and lay it across the top of all the seats and sleep on top of it.

thanks guys, Templar you kind of hit my concern on the head, thanks, I think I'll play it safe. As mentioned, second option is to fold them over, I have found (on past trips) that it works out best to just fold them once, not tucked in behind front seats as that is too high and then I use some storage boxes to complete a level floor, gives just enough room for my double futon mattress :)

Thanks again :)
