Ive just taken off my old fuel filter and it was full off paraffin.
can 19j's run on paraffin?
mmm, perhaps it was diesel then , it really did smell like paraffin though.
Have you started it yet??
Avtur - it's essentially kerosine with anti fungal and anti freezing agents. Avgas is for piston engines and is available in two grades: 80LL and 100LL. Not many engines use the lower cetane rating. The LL just stands for low lead. You can use 100LL in a petrol car and it'll go like a rocket, but it burns very hot, so will knacker the engine in pretty short order. A 50/50 mix is OK, I'm told.I have seen military vehicles run on AVGAS or AVTUR (can't remember which is closest to parafin, Cannonball Bob?). It was on an ex in about 2000, all vehicles were run on it and their performance was rubbish. However, they still ran.

I thought you said it was a diesel engine
During the very cold winters we used to have years ago I used to run my truck (it was a lorry then) on 10% parraffin to stop it freezing in the pipes. My feet were bloody freezing though:icecube:
