What did you do to your Defender today?

It's basically a molybdenum grease, I am not sure what brand is used in the one shot packages, I am using Morris K48 moly grease in my v8s swivels as recommended by Ashcrofts as I have their CVs.

Paddocks sell one-shot in either sachets (easier to use but more fragile) or plastic bottles (harder to squeeze out but less likely to leak everywhere).
I prefer the sachets, but I just checked and the only sachets seem to be LR genuine at about £18.

STC3435S was part number for sachet. STC3435B was part number for bottle.

Other places still list the BR sachets;

Some swivels were manufactured with drains and some without. I cant remember if there was a cutoff date or if it was specific to certain applications, but it may have been when they stopped specifying EP90 and recommended grease?

Oh crap, what have I done...

Been wanting to change the rear O ring for ages as it was weeping very slightly in Morocco. Ive been put off removing it so far as its a right faff of a job, but I bit the bullet yesterday.
Replacing the Oring wasnt hard, just fiddly without removing the distributor block and having pingfuckits flying everywhere...

I'm resisting mission creep now and trying not to think about replacing other bits

While its off though, Im going to check the timing and set it at 1.6 lift at TDC.

Thankyou I ordered some on eBay “Sachet “ with that no STC3435S ..firm called 4x4allmakes …I’ve bought bits from them before so should be ok .👍 Paul

Had a clean up of swivel today after photo taken ,do I need a specific tool to get this filler plug off ..I tried with a spanner had no luck ..and tried the drain one ,that wouldn’t budge either .

thankyou .

The law of sod (continued).

Ive got the fuel injection pump out and on the bench, replaced the leaky O ring seal on the distribution block. Of course, something shifted while I was doing it, so I had to strip it and rebuild the distribution block. :(

Got it together and timed, and then though that while it was on the bench I would replace the front shaft seal.
That went well - after an hour of struggling to get the old one out 😠

Refitted it on the vehicle, careful to get the timing right, then tried to bleed it. Nothing, Nada, Zilch.

Turns out the lift pump isnt (lifting) so now got two on order as I need it ASAP and will keep the other as a spare...

Deep breaths...

Why would the lift pump suddenly give out? Is it because you took the injector pump off or completely unrelated? Either way really bad timing. :(
