what oil goes in gear/transfer box 80w 90 or not.

hi there im unsure as to what oil to put in my gear and transfer box on my 300tdi disco im only unsure because someone told me not to put 80w 90,s in there but to use some other but i cant remember which other they said, anyone know for certain what i should put in them. cheers.

Yes, EP80/90 in the transfer box and diffs but not in the main gearbox.

You could use a synthetic GL5 spec EP90/90 a few advantages but regular GL4 will be fine.

Thought the transfer box took ATF ?

Glad you are not servicing my car

ATF is for main gearbox only, range rover with the borg warner transfer box take ATF.

I run my diffs and transfer box on 75/90 syn oil because it was free!
