wheel bearings

Accelerating Away
hi ,can any one throw some light on this ,while changeing the front b/brake pads on my 96 discovery i deside'd to check the wheel brearings andfound some play in them any way after repacking the bearings there's still some play onthe drivers side but not at the 12 to 6 or top to bottom but when you hold at 9 to 3 ie side to side ,i'am going to renew them but i'am wandering if there's anything i miss'd while checking things out.

I may be wrong but it sounds like a steering joint may be worn.
If it was a wheel bearing it be loose at every postion; swivel pins at top and bottom or the 12 and 6 o'clock positions.

It may be a rod end as buzz said. When trying to see where the play is, try to get somebody to press the brakes for you. That way you'll eliminate the bearings. If you have no play while rocking the wheel with the brakes pressed, that means that the bearings are shot. If you still have play, you need to investigate further.

it look's like it's the t/rod end ''i found a small split in the t/rod boot so i'll replace both t/rod end's on friday just to be on the safe side then i'll see if anything need's doing after that ,thanks for the reply's.
