Where is my immobiliser?

spandit

Trekker
I've got a little fob thing that plugs into the car just under the ignition key. I have a feeling my immobiliser is stopping the car starting (I know it's supposed to!!) even with my fob inserted. Does anyone else have this kind of thing and where is the electrickery that it feeds?

This is not factory fit,so you will have to trace it yourself.Aftermarket immobilisers usually splice into the start wire and one of the ignition feeds and possibly the stop solenoid wire aswell. They are usually badly fitted so fairly obvious how to remove them. They usually have about 10 black wires coming out of a black box and all they do is put a switched loop into the wire they have cut,so just look for the 2 wires with the same colour code and rejoin them to remake each immobilised circuit.

Way to complicated!!!:D

Spandit...

There is a very easy way to check...

Drop me a pm and I'll explain, I would post how to - but I don't want to get accused of telling people how to steal Land Rovers again ;) :D (have a read of the anti-theft post in the Defender section)

With regards to the Immobiliser stopping the landy from starting, mine filled with water. This did the obvious thing of stopping the landy from starting, worth a thought.
