Overdrive!
Right Lads Ive been to the three CB web sites Ive been pointed to and Im getting more confused by the minute ..theres so many to chose from AAAAAAAAh!!

Like us all I want the best bang for my buck ..

does anyone know anything about them???

whos got what and how good are they advice would help

Gez, I spent 90 quid on an all singin all dancin Midland excel, very nice piece of kit BUT I still only use ch10. Get the cheepest you can, the smaller ones are easier to find places to mount. ;)

As above Gez. The cheapest package deal is usually your best value for money. HPLP just bought a package PM him!

Is the excel the 48 Jon??
I do like the midlands .but thats the only make I know really..
I know were normally only a few feet apart when were out , but i would like one with a pretty good range on it..

I got the Midland 48 24/12

I think it was a wee bit less but i got all those bits. Seems to be ok and a fairly good range. Ive only ever used VHFs before and this one wasn't any different.

P.S. I had to go for the bigger aerial as they are soooo much cooler!
 
I had this dilemma a year ago. and so got myself a Midland 98+. Compact yet good performance. But i would reccomend buying a decent mike for it as the one that comes is small and useless, and fragile.
 
DONE!...... I have been :D :D just bit the bullet and the rigs on its way thanks for the tips gents..
After a quick natter with Jim at http://www.4x4cb.com/ Ive decided to go for the midland 78 plus.. mid range Cb with the chunkier Mic and some of the fancy buttons ..:D :D just need too swr it in ,,find some zinc based paint to blob on the earth between grub screws and body and back in buisness .....Happy days!!!!!!

Well I now have my swr meter back Gez, you are more than welcome to borrow it!

VWP has zinc paint, it is used to repair PCB boards and heated window elements. I have a vile of that around somewhere too! Which reminds me I must repair the heated rear window element!!

Wish id known that .ive ordered a swr too.then again i suppose its always handy to have one....I could do with a couple of blops of the paint if you can spare it fella ..When are you up this way next??

Ooo this weekend sometime I susepct. Want to swap transfer boxes this weekend. Although having said that I may have to sack what I want to do depending on what the girlie wants to do!

I will have a look in my tool box, I think I may even have it in Eva. tell you tomorrow.

Yup the box is sitting at mums place and the intercooler is currently the prettiest ornament in my living room!!! :D :D Yes thats right if I could I would have a V8 block coffee table!!!! :D
