I am going to transplant a 200TDi engine from a Disco into my 90 which came with a 2.5N/A (12J)......The question is will I need a Defender or Discovery radiator?????

Thanks a million!

Daniel, am currently running a Disco 200 in place of the 2.5 petrol engine in my Ninety. You should be able to use the Disco radiator / Oil Cooler / Intercooler unit in the Ninety.

It is nearly the same width as the aperture, and most of the "plumbing" is straightforward enough. The only modification you might need to make are;

1. the pedestals on the front crossmember are about 30mm too high. It is simple enough to chop them off and reweld them on at the correct height.

2. you will need to fabricate / modify the top mounting for the radiator, to accept your original mountings, or adapt some defender 200 rad mounts to bolt onto the front panel.

3. You will need to chop off the side mount lugs on the Disco radiator frame, or else it doesn't fit in the available width.

Thanks a real lot for the helpful advice.....but the situation is a little different than what I might have given the impression.

I bought this Disco 200 engine without any attachments....and in the missing parts list there is also the Intercooler and Rad. I managed a good deal from eblag on the intercooler which is brand new and for a disco 200. Now I happened to find this newly re-cored (and never used since) 200 defender rad.....my question would simply be....is it worth getting this or is it worth getting a Disco rad (price does not matter).
My preference goes to the unit which requires the least of worries to fit as I'm planning to use the vehicle for an overland trip....therefore power tools might not always be on the option list if replacement parts are needed or work is required.

Thanks for your time and patience guys....really apprecate them as well as the usefulness of these forums.

Daniel;)
