Landrover Graveyard

Came across a Landrover Graveyard in North Yprkshire Moors the other weekend. I'll get back to you with Grid refs but its in Rosedale north yorkshire at the north end of the valley. I think there must be about 15-20 landies of varying ages all just sitting there. I dont think the owner has any intention of selling stuff off. There are also various series I , and II's dotted in fields.

On the way back from the farm nearly got run over by I presume his wife in a brand new defender doing about 70mph with the logo '100% psycho' emablazened across the back window. She doesnt stop for walkers.

Someone else may already know about this farm/graveyard.

There is another 'graveyard' that I have passed everyday for the last 5 years, in Mid-Wales. Its a disused garage at Lloyney, Powys. There is a large collection of series vehicles crammed onto the site. Some have been cannibalised for bodyparts, but most look complete, although covered in moss and green algae.

My favourite is the 88" that looks like it was rolled! Someone lives there but the vehicles are never touched and worst of all they drive a sh*tty Espace now.

i would, hmmm i wonder if anybody could get some details, could be something else i'm looking for hmmmm

Well could somebody?

There is something similar near us by the M2 visible from the motorway, but the guy is nuts bless him. My friend and I went and checked the place out. It is a rundown farmhouse with a half finished extension and a field full of old motors, some look worth saving. There are a number of Series Landies, mainly three's. There may be a Series One, but difficult to ascertain. There are some old Jags inlcuding the large MK4 saloon. Some interesting old trucks including a Bedford MK. Various other 'classics' Mk 1 Escort, Morris Marina, Morris Minor, Autsin 1100, etc. The guy himself truned up when we were being very nosey over his fence and he was driving a Seris 2B forward control in reasonable nick. Asked us who we was and we asked if the vehicles were for sale and left him a number should he change his mind.

Why do people do this? Hording is such a strange thing to do, especially on the scale of fields full of old cars. It annoys me on one hand because mad as cheese or not, these people must know that olds cars rotting will not increase in value or prestige, they just rot. If they are not using or restoring them, why not pass them onto someone who will? Seems a bizarre thing to do keeping dozens of old cars in a field rotting. Still porbably won't be long before Brussels makes people like this clean up their yards or face ebvironmental taxes and fines I expect. Shame on both scenarios really.

The world is a crazy place innit?

i agree with you there screwloose!! if i had them, well they would hopefylly be in good nick, but woulsnt you like to get some money for them, 50,100 quid is better than letting them just rot away!!

Ps: any "graveyards" in essex???

Don't know who owns the site in Powys, but I know someone is there because the Espace isn't always in the same space.

If you're game try asking at the pub next door about it.

I'll try and borrow a digital camera from work to give you an idea of what you would-be wreckers are getting into. If he's not a psycho, I might even ask about clearing the Landies.

Rang the pub!!!

Right go some info from the pub owner. The guys name is ernie, he is a bit weird (physco) i'm getting the feeling people who hoard landies are phycos. anyway, someone delivered a cooker to the pub owener and went to see this ernie chap, he is a odd fellow, doesnt talk to many people,

the guy who delivered the cooker asked this ernie chap, wehter he could buy some bits for his landie, and got told to get lost.... so i dont know hwat cna happen now, your turn rob!!

chris
Ernie is back today!!

Very stripped I would have thought ..probably a housing estate now the ground they lay on ..
According to Google Maps it's no housing estate. In fact it looks very much as described 20 years ago. Check it out on Steetview and you can see the vehicles quite clearly.
