Single speed or two speed?

Series 2a wipers

Single speed.
Chatted to a local old school Auto electrician.
He said he could convert my 77 S3 single speed to a 2 speed.
But 1 would be half of the current speed, 2 being current speed.
Different motor and switch for 2 speed wipers.
Unless one has been fitted.
I find with the Flat windscreen a good windscreen washer solution, even in torrential rain it seems to bead away with out the wipers on.

Deffo single speed. Watch out for the self park connection, never had a 2a yet that didn't blow that out.

True, its almost instinctive I reckon I could do it with my eyes closed................... probably best not to try though

One of the most useful mods I did was to add an intermittent wiper - just used an intermittent wiper relay from a Ford and got the wiring diag off the web. I use the intermittent way more than the normal wiper setting. You may be able to get a rear wiper relay from a breakers.
...and... you could fit a 99 relay and make them adjustable..?

Ive just seen this; This is an old trick, but I'm sure many of you don't know about this (possibly) life changing upgrade to your Defender. If you replace the standard wiper relay with a VW Relay "99", you can actually choose your own length of time for the interval. You simply put the switch...

I have one of them i fitted to my series 3 years ago works great....and... you could fit a 99 relay and make them adjustable..?

Did that to my 90, best mod I've done by far

Last 2a I had used to pause at park position on every sweep and there was always a huge flash from the plug before it would start the next sweep
Mine are 2 speed, but I used a wiper motor from a Mini. That relay mod for intermittent is well up on my to-do list.
