With a view to saving energy in these straightened times, I bought myself an old fashioned kettle to heat on the gas ring as this is cheaper than using my posh 2.2kw electric kettle. I did some research and found "Simplex" solid copper kettles that have been made pretty much unaltered since 1903. I found a good one on eBay and bought it, however SWMBO complained that it did not whistle!. So, I found one with a whistle and everyone is happy.
The non whistler is for sale and I would just like my money back, £33.00 including UK postage.
It is the extra posh one with an energy saving coil around the bottom. It has a few dinks and donks but operates as designed and does not leak They are still available new and cost around £280!! see: https://neweybloomer.co.uk/
