Building a Defender door from scratch.

Hello, When Mildred reappears, unless the MOT highlights anything more important, my next task is replacing the NSF door. So far I have a Bearmach door primed, sealed, and with 3 coats of paint on it. I intend to use the exisiting: door card, window and associated mechanism bits handles...

Rebuild Specialists - anyone got experience or recommendations?

Hi To follow up an earlier thread about what bits to do when rebuilding my 110 around a new galv chassis and galv bulkhead, I'm considering getting someone to do some or all of it since realistically I don't have the time or facilities. Does anyone have experience of the following, or...

    2.25 Petrol Rebuild/Knocking noise

Hi Guys, Just parked up the landy for a couple of weeks to work on the brakes which are now completely done however when I turned the engine over it made some horrid noises and failed to start. After some jiggery-pokery I finally took out the buoy in the fuel tank and had a look - completely...

    The slowest 110 restoration ever?

So I started going through the motions of selling my 110. I mentioned it to a few people in the club, tried to rationalise the deal to myself (sell it and use the money to by a 'normal' car and a series SWB for the weekends), even washed and polished and took it to the beach car park for a...

    R380 and LT230 rebuild

I am almost 100% certain that i have the common mainshaft wear problem, i get a clonk on every gearchange and sometimes when i lift off the throttle, this is even worse at slow speeds. So i want to rebuild the gearbox and thought it would be a good idea to rebuild the transfer box at the same...

    Defender Handbrake Strip And Rebuild

If your handbrake sticks on or is ineffective, chances are the expander unit is full of mud and general gunk that builds up over the years. If your handbrake is ineffective then it might just be out of adjustment, so try turning the adjuster clockwise and seeing if it grips. If not then its...

Swivel Housing Rebuild On A Series Land Rover

At some point you will need to rebuild a swivel housing; Eventually the chrome swivels (chalices) get badly pitted and rusty, and the oil seal fails and will no longer keep the oil in the housing as a result. You get oil all over the tyres! Of course, if this happens you can drain out the oil...
