Growing your own Food.

Lost most of the felt on the shed roof so spent last 3 days sorting that. Now has 7 battens down it to hold it down.

Lots of ground prepared a few seedlings in the greenhouse.
Frogs have started breeding and a few birds looking at nesting so hopefully spring is on its way.
Buds on mountain ash opening and some Asparagus shoots under cloches.

That is a nice setup you have takes plenty of looking after I would think ā€¦Love English Asparagus itā€™s a pity it has a short season over here .

Things are starting off again.
- Tulips are up and flowering, broad beans ready to go in and getting too big for their root trainers, peas and all-year-round lettuce getting a bit plug-bound, raspberries and blackcurrants showing bud. I've got may first taste of lettuce under grow lights indoors in an aerogarden, and some half trays of cress which is a bit tempremental TBH under grow lights as the soil is so thin they dry out within 3 days as I forget to water them.
What is a success is oversowing stuff in 4" square pots under lights as it retains enough moisture not to kill them so I can transplant into trays and makes good use of the space too. I've had lettuce, kale, onions and calabrese so far. Onions from seed doing well outside now despite the weather, as are the early peas in modules - which I've gone a bit mad on and have about 10 varieties going, but the boy eats a lot of peas and not much else so can always freeze them, and maybe use them as ammunition later against the cabbage whites or local cats.

Getting ready to put the tomatoes in the tunnel. They are so big now they need the support but in the back of my mind I know it's still a bit early.
Finger's crossed no bad frosts coming up.

Put in some Little Gem and Webbs lettuce as well.
The potatoes are looking good at the moment.......
Never seen so many ants either.

Wow! Still haven't lifted a finger for my plot! Grass is a foot tall, I did have an awesome carpet of miniature daffs, a yellow plant that I can't for the life of me remember the name but they looked stunning. My apple tree is absolutely rammed with blossom. Greenhouse - someone's been there and smashed the door glass šŸ˜¢ I've since setup CCTV but I suspect it's one of the local druggies trying to find somewhere to hide whilst they sort themselves out. I'll be adding a full height locked gate and planting hedgerow and instead of cutting down the brambles this year I'm going to thread them into the existing hedge and fence.
