ZF 5HP24 teardown

Hi Bremble, its good to find someone with such an interest and knowledge of these gearboxes. I have worked with Jaguars for many years, but tend not to dabble too much with transmissions. However it occurred to me that many faults could be repaired, it is difficult to find a specialist that will carry out a repair most will only do a full rebuild.

I have a problem with an XJ8 with the ZF transmission; It went into safe mode and a scan revealed code P1748 pressure regulator 5 circuit open or short to ground or positive. I have swapped the solenoid with #4, cleared the code and cycled the ignition, as JTIS says code will flag on second switch on. The code has not returned but the dash still displays gearbox fault, I now plan to refill and run trans up to check if the fault code moves to #4. I have probed the solenoids and they all click, diagnostics show a calculated output of 0.1 amp. Do you have any advice regarding this fault code, is it something you have delt with before?

im gonna replace the 5th solenoid, but after reading your post im not sure thats enough to fix that gearbox error.
how finally did you repair that transmission?
can you share your experience with thar error.

Mój problem dotyczy Audi A8 D2, ale skrzynia biegów to 5HP24A i myślę, że wasza wiedza mi pomoże. Po tym, jak odbudowałem skrzynię biegów - uszkodzone sprzęgło "A" do przodu, mam kilka naprawdę dziwnych i nietypowych objawów. Gdy auto jest zimne - nie mam biegów do przodu, a po zwiększeniu obrotów zmiana biegów i 5 bieg - sugerowałoby to dalsze problemy z koszem "A", ale za każdym razem, gdy olej w skrzyni rozgrzewa się do 55-58 stopni C, biegi do przodu włączają się choć z lekkim szarpnięciem. Bieg wsteczny włącza się płynnie za każdym razem. Gdy olej jest ciepły, mogę przejechać samochodem 100 km lub więcej i skrzynia biegów działa poprawnie. Dodatkowo mam zamontowany zawór regulacji ciśnienia TransGO, ale miałem go już przed usterką. Czy jest coś, co może powodować takie dziwne objawy - zwykle jest na odwrót, a skrzynia biegów po rozgrzaniu traci moc. Proszę Cię o pomoc.

My problem concerns the Audi A8 D2, but the gearbox is 5HP24A and I think your knowledge will help me. After I rebuilt my gearbox - damaged "A" Forward clutch, I have some really strange and unusual symptoms. When the car is cold - I have no forward gears, and after increasing the revs, the gear shift and 5th gear - this would suggest further problems with basket "A", but every time the oil in the gearbox warms up to 55-58 degrees C, the forward gears engage although with a slight jerk. Reverse engages smoothly every time. When the oil is warm, I can drive the car for 100 km or more and the gearbox works properly. Additionally, I have a TransGO pressure regulation valve installed, but I already had it before the fault. Is there something that can cause such strange symptoms - usually it's the other way around, and the gearbox loses power after warming up. I'm asking you for help.
