In Third Gear
Thought I’d just post some work I’ve done since I bought my first Land Rover at start of November.
First of all I made a new wheel carrier as the old one was rotten and dangerous! So made one that is slightly higher so the bigger wheel clears the bumper.
Next to tackle was the sunroofs! New seals and drains, thought i would do all the interior and roof liner while I was at it!
Then.. the welding.. which I thought was a simple spring and shock mount, which went well and was easy.
Did the watts linkage while I was there.
Next I moved to the front which was a big shock
No seals around the window screen at all bought a new top seal and got the rest from my mates breaker.
Now because there was no seals anywhere the scuttle was so rotten. Chopped all that out and welded new steel in. But it had worked its way all the way down to the inner wing and footwell. So chopped all that out and made new. Coated it all in galv spray and stone guarded it.
Think I damaged the master cylinder while I was there too so had to put a new mc on after aswell lol.
Back on all 4 now and awaiting a new fuse box as it has had water damage. Then need to do the diff filler bungs and some new discs/pads!
I’ll get out in it some day soon!
Nice introduction to landy ownership
