Early 107 build progress

Managed to cut and bend the front springs, axle brackets all ready to be welded to the chassis
Strange chassis design due to the need for engine to be as far forward as possible

Been playing with an A frame to locate the front axle as it's floating on the springs
Can't make it work so going back to panhard rod idea
I'll have to hope it's strong enough to hold the axle upright as there is quite a bit of leverage via the hubs :(

Front suspension / axle nearly done, just mobility scooter coil over shocks to fit (more brackets to make) Abandoned panhard rod idea, too much stuff to buy
Axle fitted so as it will oscillate and not restricted by the stiff springs, not enough weight in it to use leaves for springing
Rained off again

Put off making coil over brackets and sorted the steering arms instead, I have a steering box somewhere to fix to the off side chassis and link to the nearside steering arm.
Got holes drilled for the steering stops as well and test fitted a wheel, looks about right but track seems to be narrow, maybe the tyres are too tall
I know we like pictures so nipped out between the showers and took a few :)

Chucked the wheels on to measure wheel base at front, looks like I'll be making a bracket and widening the rear by an inch which is easier than chopping the front axle to size, Don't think anyone will be measuring it :)
Steering stops very close to the front brake drum so I'll have to tinker with that as well

Very clever this ,I’m looking forward to the finished article driving down the path ..great stuff 👍

Recycled coil overs test fitted, going to weld the brackets on tomorrow if it's dry, coils from a mobility scooter and done a few hundred miles on a trailer that I built so well tested, gas from the shocks escaped some time ago but only need the springing.

Coils?! What kind of a 107 are you building here! 😁
Seriously I'm loving what you're doing. I dig scale model stuff so I think this idea is particularly cool.

Drive train coming together, gearbox brackets made and box test fitted, chain lined up so all ready to fix in place, ordering chain and adjuster so see how much that'll add to the budget :)

Gearbox all coupled up and chain set up to axle, doing the steering today, got the 'steering box' on in the right place
Fitted another pivot point on chassis behind engine for steering , need to cut the steering rack down to size and fit a belt tensioner to drive belt.
Lots of work but not a lot of progress :)

Decided to have a change today and started on the front wings need to let the glue dry then shape the front curve
Stuck with little front panels that the No plate goes on because I have no measurements and mate locally wasn't very helpful when I asked could I measure his series one
I'll guess them :)

Big job coming up, make the front grill panel without any proper measurements to refer to, got an idea but I'll have to guess the holes in the panel from pictures
Grill looks a lot wider on a 107 / 109 than a series two, maybe just an illusion
Lot of filling and shaping to do on the wings fist though :)
