Motorcycle riding LRUKers.

Biker question......Bought my Bonnie T100 new in 2020....still has its factory tyres on it.....I am surprised.....the rear is a radial.....the front is a cross ply.

Got to be a good reason for that.....not been into bike that long....so still things to learn.

Can anybody educate me.
I always thought it was a big NO_NO ! but is that only on the same axles on a car etc ?

Just heard the news that Dave Myers ,one of the hairy bikers as sadly passed, Really like the banter between the two and although I think some of there later stuff went a bit too PC , loved watching there programs and seeing what bikes they were on . RIP Dave ,
Met and spoke to Dave in the local bike shop a few times, and my brother in law restored his moto guzzi. He was an absolute gentleman, kind and friendly to everyone and always made a point of at least saying hello. He will be sadly missed

Is that an H2 triple Mach 4 at the top? Seem to remember it was famed for being the fastest accelerating bike of it's time.

Seem to remember them melting the middle pot too.
Not to forget the hinge in the middle frame, known as the widow maker , BBO's older brother was mad on all the stroker triples.
 
Had a blast a few years back on a mates GT750 ā€˜kettleā€™. Lovely smell & clouds of two stroke under hard acceleration but not as quick as I remember them being back in the day. It had either lost a few horses or I have a few more pounds to cart around these days šŸ¤”
did you check the middle pipe was hot?, it could have had the 'cornish mechanics' fix to the seizing middle pot problem by removing the centre conrod and associated gubbins, thats what my bro' in law's older brother did with his, after expensive damage he got the grinder out and turned it into a 500cc twin!,

Anyway, the honda 750 k's are my fave jap multis and have owned a few but they attracted thieves so gave up on them, thinking about a u.s import project if one comes along.

Agree with you on 750K, sold mine two years ago and now wish I'd kept it

It's fantastic what Alan milliard does with jap bikes,ads extra barrels or another whole engine ! I once sat on a 5 cylinder KH,they look like a std factory bike.
I love his 'flying milliard' 5 litre V twin,crazy contraption looks like it's from a pre war era.

No, to be honest my comments were a bit tongue in cheek. My comparison at the time was with fairly lightweight sports 600ā€™s & 750ā€™s which were over the 100bhp mark and absolute flying machines. The old GT was probably 65bhp at best, they were heavy bikes too in their day and being an early one had drum brakes front and rear!
These days I am more sedate on the BMW GS.
 
This is the same as my k6 albeit mine had 3 spoke cma's, uprated swing arm, 4 into 1 yoshi, trick cam, dual brakes etc, they were the single cam dry sump engines as opposed to the later twin cam 'euro styled' later multis like Halfsize's.
If they had oiling probs the cam and head suffered due to the cam journals being ally, mine siezed and i had the head converted to bearings and the cam built up and reground by a specialist company i found in mcn up north in the early 90's, iirc they were called something like ses(?) Engineering and the top quality work was about Ā£200, when it came back i was pleased to find that all the threaded holes in the ally had had steel inserts fitted and new bolts, a top quality company. 70mph in 2nd and
It would sit solid as a rock purring along at not much more than tickover at 120 on tt100s!,
My favourite bike by far and i have owned many, it fitted me like a glove. It got stolen soon after, i still have the v5 and
if every i see it at a show etc there will be a 'situation' for sure
