Motorcycle riding LRUKers.

I haven't ridden mine properly since about April last year, did something to my back which means I can't bear my weight fully on my left leg. Can't stand for any great length of time either.

Not ideal when you have a top heavy old Triumph, and you can't put your left leg down at a junction.

Pissed off much?
Feel for you @Big Sandy. Sometimes a ride is the only thing that keeps me sane! Going through the planning process with our house at the moment and the council are being difficult for the sake of being frickin difficult! A bit like skittles, whatever you knock down they put another obstacle in the way.
Today was bone dry, the first in ages so I dusted off the bike, checked the tyres, put a bit of fresh fuel in and went out. Nowhere to go, no time constraint and wall to wall sunshine. A 50 mile jaunt across North Devon did wonders to alleviate pent up stress with a stop for coffee. Phone off only added to the experience. Sometimes a couple of hours being selfish does wonders for the soul.
Hope you recover soon my friend & get back on the bike šŸ˜Š

This is the same as my k6 albeit mine had 3 spoke cma's, uprated swing arm, 4 into 1 yoshi, trick cam, dual brakes etc, they were the single cam dry sump engines as opposed to the later twin cam 'euro styled' later multis like Halfsize's.
If they had oiling probs the cam and head suffered due to the cam journals being ally, mine siezed and i had the head converted to bearings and the cam built up and reground by a specialist company i found in mcn up north in the early 90's, iirc they were called something like ses(?) Engineering and the top quality work was about Ā£200, when it came back i was pleased to find that all the threaded holes in the ally had had steel inserts fitted and new bolts, a top quality company. 70mph in 2nd and
It would sit solid as a rock purring along at not much more than tickover at 120 on tt100s!,
My favourite bike by far and i have owned many, it fitted me like a glove. It got stolen soon after, i still have the v5 and
if every i see it at a show etc there will be a 'situation' for sure
Great bike and a real classic now. It would be a hard choice between one of those and an early Z900 for sure.

I've seen that bike & have a pic somewhere, sat on a 5 cylinder KH Milliard built can't remember the cc.

I've been continuing down the rabbit hole with the bikes lately. I've decided to give it a try at the least. Save up a couple of grand to get my CBT, a passable YBR and some gear. If I find it works out, even if it's just for good days, then I'll go for my full licence. I was chatting about it with my brother and he's even prepared to give me his first bike. It's in pieces but I can rebuild it while I build up my experience on a smaller bike. Its a 1991 Honda VFR750, and even when I was dead against having a bike I was rather fond of that engine. He even said he'd help me mod it into a more enduro style. We found some pictures of a guy who modded one into a Dakar bike, and that really appeals.
It's funny, once I was genuinely scared of them. I would spend days with my brother in the garage and help him race etc, but riding one was too scary. Now I think about it all the time. If I had the money I'd have pulled the trigger already.

Save up a couple of grand to get my CBT,
Our youngest paid Ā£300 and something. That included hiring a bike, as the test/training centre was 100 miles away. Now, I wonder if they will let you sit the training on your own bike at the centre? You could pillion on your bro, or him ride it there and you drive there? Save a bit of cash on renting a bike. You'll need a bike once you pass anyway....

The places local to me seemed cheaper than that, about Ā£200 all in, Ā£155 on your own bike. As you say though, getting it there would be a pig. The Ā£2000 would be for the ticket, bike and gear. I can't see me getting anywhere with less than that. It wouldn't be the best bike but Ā£1000 just get me one that works enough to try. At least it wouldn't be something I'd be scared of dropping while I test out what I can do.

My first day off for a few weeks so took my dt 360 out for a quick ride it buzzed, vibrated hunted when backing off the throttle just like an old two smoke should it also killed the battery itā€™s been slowly dying for a while so I fitted the new one I got a while ago the lights are bright went to check the voltage with the engine running and my multi meter died šŸ˜€ undeterred I decided to look at my mower as last week when I gave my lawn itā€™s first cut the mower was reving really high and dragging me around and had me running around behind it šŸ˜€ I bet it looked comical like it was a speeded up film I was out of breath and sweating for ages after but cut the grass in record time šŸ˜‚ a plug and air filter clean had normal service restored

Went to a local autojumble,10 stainless bolts Ā£7 šŸ˜² Almost didn't bother at those prices ! But their the correct length, rather than cutting some. Yes things have gone up, but that's astronomical šŸš€
A lot of new stuff I can buy cheaper online, plus get branded makes rather than cheap ones.
Not much there loads of empty spaces, I used to have a stall myself regularly. But stopped bothering after, buying to re-sell became a pita.

It rained earlier than forecast even an hour later, I still ran into the rain most of the way home šŸŒ§ļøšŸ™„
Need to wash the bike now,at least it's dry out lol.

Not a good evening a car pulled out,I just skimmed past it very lucky stayed upright.
The guy in the car said are you ok, didn't ask for details I assumed his car undamaged. Drove off I didn't get chance to see the car, have to wonder if he was even insured ? Slight scuffs that will polish out,is all the bike got luckily.
Bike cut out & there wasn't enough oopf in battery to restart. So pushed it for a bit to a Aldi, didn't want to leave it in the town. I walked home & got the trailer, probably battery on its way out shall find out tomorrow.
