Them EV thingys.

This is the third bulk car transporter fire that I know about. This EV thingy was sitting on a ship (presumably switched off) and still managed to self-ignite.
There have been instances where electronic failure, caused by battery fires, have caused the doors and windows to lock and occupants have been burnt alive in their cars. Perhaps EV's should all come with life hammers as standard - a bit of essential safety equipment.

Coming home from mums this morning coming up to J11 M20 a Black Tesla overturned on the hard shoulder there was a few cars stopped there but no emergency services ..the other cars didn’t look like they were damaged im presuming they stopped to help ..bad damage front wheel was missing ,heavy front and side damage ..im thinking hit the central reservation and ended up on the bank .
I couldn’t take a picture I was driving ..

The trouble with EVs is that they're fast, usually RWD and in the hands of people who have never had such a thing before.

To quote the owners handbook for my old BMW 3 series:

"Traction control and ABS cannot contravene the laws of physics"
That is so true ,the road conditions were wet so easy done I guess .

Toyota and GM have announced they are pulling out of EV production. Apple have abandoned their EV project after 16 years of development. Ford announced they are cutting back due to falling demand and over-inventory at dealers. Just read tonight that Audi and Mercedes are cutting back on EV production and concentrating on ICE vehicles.

Ha the tables are turning we will be back to V8 engine proper cars shortly..

I saw that story and really have reservations about that actually happening. I remember years ago someone said their cruise control was stuck and they couldn't stop and ended up putting the car into the barrier to slow down with a police escort. Further investigation found it to be a hoax and the driver was dealt with in court.

Called it...

Yet JLR announce the opposite plan

But why..? Surely its better to be caught speeding than right-off your vehicle and possibly get done anyway...

Of course, 90mph, whats that 3 points and £100 most likely. He had to drive until the EV battery ran out? Pish, the amount of faliures an EV would have to suffer in succession for this to happen is almost impossible, there's 4 methods of braking on that car, motor retardation, electronic motor in the master cylinder, abs pump can be commanded without brake input and finally physical stroke of the brake pedal. Thats ignoring the fact the thing sat at 90mph untill the battery ran out, meaning all the safety systems failed, the throttle position sensor stuck in place (both of them) the brake switch failed. Telemetry on the vehicle will tell if he had his foot on the gas or brake. Its just nonsense.

I could believe it failed to brake and had to roll to a stop.. but to keep going at 0mph without the driver to be able to get it under control is just madness.

re JLR vs the world point.......there is no logic to account for corporate strategy and how two groups of people can see the same set of numbers in very different lights.
Go Crazy Wtf GIF

You would think they would have one of these within reach somewhere,
I fitted one on my 2a's seatbox in case of an emergency
