What did you do to your Defender today?

Ive put my name down for one of these when they are back in stock (gulp);

Im not looking for more overall power, just a wider spread.
I replaced the core in my original turbo a couple of years ago with a hybrid core that was supposed to give a biggish improvement and it was (I think) slightly better.
I thought at the time it was spooling up a bit faster, but I still feel like I would like the power to come in a bit earlier.
I have a couple of VGT turbos that I salvaged and was going to build one up and adapt the exhaust etc etc, but I'll never get a round tuit so giving in and shelling out.

If this doesnt help then I give up.
I know exactly what you mean. I have done the same thing with Miffy. Swapping the CHRA in the turbo for a "hybrid-ish" one (basically a billet turbine and ball bearings) has made a difference, it does spool up quicker actually much quicker but as the housings are the same as standard all you get is the standard but quicker. It also makes a much more audible turbo whistle than the standard CHRA. I have been and still am sorely tempted to fit a VGTurbo to Miffy for over all drivability. Or at least that is what fitting a VGTurbo would mean. I would dearly love to try a TD5 with a VGTurbo to see mind you.

Ahhh and then I do really miss my old 200tdi, now that thing was superb, what a lovely engine beautifully tuned and as reliable as you possibly want. I wonder what it would have been like with a VGTurbo...

As with you I am looking for drivability and reliability, not a World speed record...

Replaced Aframe ball joint, old one was very floppy ! , swapped the handed springs over on the front and hey presto ! it still droops to the other side 🤣.replaced rear anti roll bar bushes
What springs did you use ? Fitted HDs to bring the front up level,I hated nose pointing down on mine.

Attached is the list I bought from Gwyn Lewis, I asked his advice as I have about 30 kg of winch and 40kg of bumper hanging over the front, after fitting ride is perfect !

HD on the front , is the ride quite hard ?

Fitted a buzzer to my indicators as I can't hear the tick of the relay or see the green light on the dash very well, that's the good news, the bad news is I bought 10 of them :rofl: as I thought I might need 2, oh well plenty of spares when the chinezium fitted buzzer self destructs :confused:
To save wasting them maybe you could fit one on each door rear door bonnet and light switch 🤣

Good plan Paul d :rofl: but If I could be arsed I'd eBay them at 2 quid each plus post..........
What are they, a constant buzzer or intermittent or whatever you line them up on, all joking aside I'll have a couple off you if you are selling them at a couple of quid a go, that is if your serious, I don't mind paying the postage

They could be a constant buzz if you wanted, I wired mine into the relay (not the hazard circuit) so buzz intermittently when the indicators power up, ok that's cool if you want a couple, send me a PM and I'll sort you out with a couple.
