Towing miror? I reckon it's folded when not in use, or when parked. The fixing is offset to the wing edge to accommodate the hatch lids, so the mirrors would stick out and catch a shopping trolley.

It's coil sprung so defender axles?
I thought they looked more like Lightweight drive members...but yes, 5 bolts not six, so yes defender axles. Well spotted.
or for seeing around corners when pulling out..?

Looking at the angle I think it is set to see front when close to an obstacle. Colin
People often throw around the word 'bitsa', but someone took that term and made it litteral with that vehicle.

Front wing mirror ,could it be used for towing , if it swings out the angle would be greater , when not in use just fold it back in

But its angled completely the wrong way, so if it was just swung around it would give you a view forwards!Beat you to it!
Im sticking with it being a 'pulling out' mirror, so you can look left while seeing cars approaching from the right in the mirror!

Thirty years ago that was a normal conversion.a rusted range rover and a series.turned into a coil sprung series.

Same here with our certification process for modified vehicles, the owner of it said it was close to being classified as a Scratch Built, like a full on hot rod, which opens up an other whole can of worms
