It may be possible with a bit of ingenuity to replace the bearing.?
A friend of mine has a MB sprinter van he lives in and Ive helped him out a few times with maintenance and repairs.
I investigated a squeal (which he thought was brakes) and found the rearmost UJ was broken. No problems I thought, just get a new UJ and its a 1/2 hour job on a good day.
Nope.
In their wisdom, MB have made the UJ's non-replaceable, they are crimped into place in the yokes, so if a UJ goes on a sprinter, you need to replace the entire 2-piece propshaft along with centre bearing, so instead of a £20 1/2 hour job, it becomes an £800 half day job...
There are a few videos on youtube showing how people use grinders and a press and then weld a new UJ in, but we dont have the facilities to do that, and I would be worried about it being out of balance afterwards.
We found him a replacement prop for £500 and paid £100 to get it here.. for a broken UJ...
